 The Tybee 500 is a 500 mile endurance catamaran race that is sailed on 18 and 20 foot beach catamarans. The race begins in the Florida Keys and sailors compete in daily legs over six days as they sail the 500 miles, all the way to Tybee Island, Georgia. This is one of the toughest sailboat races in the world. Two sailor teams are exposed to the elements from 5 to 12 hours per day and may start and finish in large pounding surf.
